Affymetric.jpgUnlike traditional 3'-based expression array designs, the GeneChip Mouse and Rat Gene 1.0 ST arrays from Affymetrix Inc. cover the genes’ total transcriptional activity. The mouse array features 28,853 well-annotated genes represented by approximately 27 probes spread across the full length of each gene, while the rat array has 27,342 genes with approximately 26 probes each. Designed in a small format for a simple work flow, the arrays require only 100 ng of total RNA starting material. They are suitable for new microarray users and for researchers performing gene-level expression profiling and alternative splicing analyses.
