Novotech Inc. has added the Optipro SX 150, a precision optical grinding machine with computer numerical control to its arsenal of fabrication tools. The tool enables curve generation of blanks to tight tolerances as well as generation of concave and convex aspheric blanks. The five-axis system manufactures complex nonstandard blank and window shapes and performs multistep deterministic grinding of spherical surfaces with precision edging and beveling. The graphical user interface provides a set of menu-driven screens with user prompts for data input. The system is supplied with a high-resolution LCD monitor and RS-232-C and RS-422 interfaces. Ethernet is available as an option.
