Laser Diode Collimators

HATFIELD BROAD OAK, UK, June 15, 2009 – Photonic Products Ltd. has announced a line of laser diode collimators that combine high alignment accuracy with a tiny package. Designed for use in applications that require high beam alignment accuracy, the line comprises a micro laser diode collimator that measures 4.5 mm in diameter and 8 mm long, and two miniature collimators that are 9.1 mm long and have 6-mm diameters.

Photonic_collimator.jpgThe 300-0444-00 offers boresight accuracy of <0.2°, and the two miniature collimators offer boresight accuracy of 0.4° in the standard version and 0.05° in the high-precision model. The glass collimating lens improves the optical performance over the operating temperature range of -10 to 70 °C.

Lasing wavelength for all models is 650 nm, maximum beam divergence is 0.5 mrad, collimated output power for the micro model is 3 mW and, for the miniature models, 5 mW. Pointing stability for all models is <0.2 mrad/°C. The micro delivers an 8.0 × 6.5-mm elliptical output beam at 5 m, and operating current is 25 mA. The miniature models deliver an elliptical output beam of 2.7 × 6 mm at 5m, and operating current is 30 mA. Threshold current is 20 mA.

The collimators are packaged in a brass housing.
