JP_Sercel.jpgThe IX-4000 ChromAblate from JP Sercel Associates (JPSA) is an excimer laser workstation designed for medical device micromachining. It micromachines materials with micronscale features and submicron tolerances. Typical devices include stents, catheters, microfluidics, sensors, nozzles, microscreens, particle traps, MEMS, MOEMS, microdicers, biosensors (lab on a chip) and microvias. It can process metal, glass, ceramics and polymers such as plastics. The system is available with robotics, prealigners and machine vision. A 193-nm package is available for materials optically transparent at longer wavelengths. It can be configured with various stages to handle parts up to 300 mm in size.
