The ChiliLase high-power red laser diodes operating in the range of 635 to 690 nm have been released by Modulight Inc. The laser diodes deliver up to 2 W of power in a 200-μm-core optical fiber at room temperature. ChiliLase comes in a sealed fiber-pigtailed package that permits interfacing to the power supply and the cooling system. Applications include photodynamic therapy, metrology and surface inspection.
