The National Physical Laboratory has introduced a tunable Fabry-Perot etalon with low drift performance. It features a free spectral range of 1500 MHz, a finesse greater than 100, a greater than 10-GHz scan range at 633 nm, a fast settling time and low hysteresis. Applications for the device include laser stabilization and spectral analysis. It can also be used as a tunable filter or frequency reference.
