Lumics GmbH has introduced single-emitter laser diodes on high-heat-load U-mounts, which can be used for medical applications. They have wavelengths of 808, 915, 940 and 975 nm. The emitter chips measure 1 μm in height and have widths of 45, 95 or 190 μm. For example, the LU0940U013 model has a 190-μm-wide chip that emits at 940 nm and delivers 13-W power in CW mode and 25-W maximum peak power. The diodes have a single quantum well molecular beam epitaxy structure.
