PriorScientific.jpgPrior Scientific Instruments Ltd. has introduced an ultrasmooth variant of its H117 scanning stage for use with inverted microscopes in 3-D live-cell imaging, confocal microscopy and other applications. A stepper motor with twice as many steps as previous models and a 1-mm ball screw give the stage a resolution of 0.01 μm, and its flat upper surface permits attachment of micromanipulators and incubation chambers. An optional linear encoder reduces the effects of thermal drift in time-lapse experiments.
