Bruker.jpgBruker Daltonics Inc. has added new features to its Maldi Molecular Imager system for biomarker detection, tissue classification and pathology research, and for imaging the distributions of drugs and metabolites in drug development. The ImagePrep automated tissue sample preparation device introduces sensor-based quality control into the process, providing high-resolution images (50-μm pixel size) and feature-rich mass spectra. The next-generation flexImaging 2.0 software provides data analysis and visualization as well as statistical analysis of Maldi images. It allows visualization of biomarkers within tissue. The ClassImaging algorithm provides selectivity and image contrast to assist in the classification of tissue types, such as cancer biopsies, and it determines the class membership of tissue or biopsy samples. Images are generated with Tof/Tof mass spectrometers using 200-Hz smartbeam lasers with a computer-adjustable spot size down to 10 μm in diameter.
