A compact near-infrared spectrometer with scanning grating technology has been unveiled by HiperScan GmbH. The technology allows the entire spectrum to pass a single highly sensitive InGaAs detector that scans 2048 samples. The grating is an optical MEMS component that the company says provides precision and reliability. A single scan of the spectrum takes 10 ms or less. The SGS1900 is designed for online process analytics and as an OEM component. The 3.9 × 3.1 × 2.9-in. device weighs 1.8 lb.
