Onyx Optics Inc. has released the Hyrax, a Ho:YAG end-pump laser system that operates at 2.1 μm and uses Adhesive-Free Bond patented technology. The system offers a 2090-nm wavelength (with 2097 nm available upon request), a <4-nm linewidth, a 25- to 50-ns pulse width and a repetition rate of up to 50 KHz. It delivers output power of 18.6 W and beam quality of M2 <1.2. The system can be operated at a variety of rates or in continuous-wave mode without significant alterations to power levels. The lasers can be used for pumping mid-IR ZGP optical parametric oscillators, for laser remote sensing and for medical surgery.
