Applied NanoFluorescence LLC has unveiled the NS1 NanoSpectralyzer for single-walled carbon nanotube characterization. Consisting of both software and hardware, the system occupies only 12 × 18 in. of a tabletop and obtains near-IR fluorescence and absorption spectra. It automatically provides analysis results as diameter histograms and graphene-sheet maps, showing the amount of nanotube species. It also presents graphs of the ratio of fluorescence-to-absorbance intensities. The system stabilizes within 10 s after startup, provides results within 30 s and requires only 200 μl of sample. An optional model allows for analysis of samples with volumes as low as 50 μl.
