Laser Pico Projector
REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 8, 2009 – A laser-based pico projector called SHOWWX has been unveiled by Microvision Inc. It uses the proprietary laser-based PicoP display engine that delivers large, colorful, bright and vivid images that are always in focus, regardless of projection distance and even on curved surfaces.

Microvision_PicoProjector.jpgThe plug-and-play device is designed for use by people who want to spontaneously view and share mobile TV, movies, photos and presentations. Users can take the pocket-size projector anywhere, plug it into their portable media players, mobile phones, notebooks and other portable mobile media devices with TV-Out or VGA functionality and share a big screen experience with friends, family or business associates. Depending on the ambient light, the projected images range in size from 150 to 2500 mm.

The projector delivers 848 × 480-pixel resolution, brightness of 10 lm, an aspect ratio of 16:9 widescreen and a nominal refresh rate of 60 Hz. Color gamut is >200% NTSC, contrast ratio is >5000:1, thinness is 14 mm, width is 60 mm, length is 118 mm, and weight with user-replaceable battery is 122 g.
