Thermoelectric Coolers
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 16, 2009 – VueMetrix Inc. has released a new product line of thermoelectric cooler temperature controllers, the Vue-TEC-15 and the Vue-TEC-24.

Both models are bidirectional high-frequency switch mode DC/DC power converters with smoothing filters to improve efficiency. Operating point is regulated automatically. Vue-TEC-15 is rated at 120 W; Vue-TEC-24 is rated at 200 W. Maximum output voltage is ±10 A.

An auxiliary second serial port allows the devices to communicate internally with another controller, combining seamlessly with other models in the VueMetrix line. They provide simultaneous operation with laser diode controllers.

VueMetrix_LaserDiodeControl.jpgMicroprocessor-controlled, they feature advanced fault diagnostics, user-settable operational limits and an extensive library of interface commands. Either RS-232, USB or both can be used to interface with the controllers, which also can run stand-alone or in conjunction with the WinVue user interface program. They are available in packaged form or as a printed circuit board assembly. The software development kit includes the controller, all necessary connectors, a power supply and the WinVue software.

The Windows-based software includes a servo tuning wizard that empirically characterizes thermal load and performs a numerical analysis procedure to optimize the temperature control coefficients.

The controllers are designed to drive Peltier effect devices (thermoelectric coolers). They deliver precise temperature regulation of small thermal loads such as laser diode and heat sinks, nonlinear laser crystals and infrared detectors.
