Coherent.jpgCoherent Inc. has introduced the Matrix 532-8-100 Q-switched, diode-pumped, solid-state laser for high-throughput micromachining tasks in solar, semiconductor and medical device manufacturing. The green laser provides 8 W of output power at 532 nm at a pulse rate of 100 kHz. Constructed using the company’s PermAlign component-mounting technology and robotic assembly methods, it provides high power stability of <2%, low pulse-to-pulse noise of <2% rms, typical, pointing stability of <15 μrad/°C and beam quality of M2 <1.3. The RoHS-compliant device provides complete control over pulse energy and timing.

solid-state laser
A laser using a transparent substance (crystalline or glass) as the active medium, doped to provide the energy states necessary for lasing. The pumping mechanism is the radiation from a powerful light source, such as a flash lamp. The ruby and Nd:YAG lasers are solid-state lasers.
