High-Power Industrial Green LaserSANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 24, 2009 – The Mamba Green from Coherent Inc. is a frequency-doubled, diode-pumped solid-state laser that offers high output power and low cost of ownership for a wide range of materials processing tasks. It delivers more than 325 W of output at 532 nm (at 10 kHz), yet its integrated doubling crystal shifter and field-replaceable gain modules provide an expected operating lifetime of more than 25,000 h.
It enables high process throughput and flexibility through the use of the pulse-on-demand feature that stabilizes laser output characteristics in both single-shot and burst mode operation, and it includes first pulse equalization, making it possible to use every pulse produced by the laser.
Repetition rate is from 10 to 50 kHz, and pulse width is <90 ns at 10 kHz and <150 ns at 20 kHz. Beam divergence full angle is <3 mrad, beam pointing stability is <100 urad/°C. and operating temperature is from 15 to 35 °C.
It is suitable for use in a number of industrial and scientific applications. Examples include surface texturing, cutting, drilling, marking and engraving of metals, such as steel and aluminum, where it provides high throughput (for example, 1000 holes/min of 0.25-mm diameter on 800-µm thick aluminum).
The Mamba Green is also useful for a variety of semiconductor processing tasks, including low-temperature polysilicon recrystallization for display manufacture, dopant activation in the fabrication of insulated gate bipolar transistor semiconductors and CMOS devices, and annealing for CMOS sensors. The laser can even be used for pumping Ti:sapphire amplifiers, where it offers higher power and higher repetition rate output than other high-performance green lasers, according to the company.
