CAMARILLO, Calif., Dec. 28, 2009 – The QW24T25033 launched by Power-One Inc. is a highly efficient quarter-brick DC-DC converter for use in communications, particularly wireless base station applications that use both 24- and 48-V battery backup power. It provides 3.3-V output that delivers 25 A and performs equally well at nominal inputs of either 48 or 24 V, where neither efficiency nor thermal performance is compromised. Input range is from 18 to 60 VDC.
With efficiencies as high as 92%, the converter offers a Distributed-Power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA) standard quarter-brick footprint measuring 36.83 × 58.42 × 12.24 mm and is RoHS-compliant for all six substances. Additional features include: a -40 to 85 °C operating temperature range, capability to withstand an 80-V input transient for 100 ms, ability to start up into pre-biased loads and an onboard input differential LC-filter.
Interface and trim capabilities include: remote sense, remote on/off, negative or positive turn-on logic, and -20% to 10% output voltage trim ranges with industry-standard trim equations for design flexibility. Protections include: output overvoltage and overcurrent, input undervoltage lockout and overtemperature shutdown. Safety approvals include: UL60950-1, CSA60950-1, EN60950-1 and IEC60950-1.
The device weighs 37 g and requires neither a heat sink nor a minimum load. Applications include telecommunications, data communications, wireless communications, servers and workstations and industrial environments.
