Blue Sky Research has released a 20-mW version of its 488-nm ChromaLase II diode laser module. Incorporating a blue semiconductor laser diode, the device is packaged in a rugged housing with integrated electronics for laser drive, power level control and diode protection, and with direct modulation capability. It features <0.5% optical noise rms, <10 µrad/°C pointing stability and a beam alignment accuracy of <5 mrad. It also offers circular or elliptical output beams and diffraction-limited optical performance. Applications include flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, analytical instruments, inspection and metrology, ophthalmology, and defense and homeland security.
