Analyzer Plug-In Module

SAN DIEGO, March 30, 2010 — Agilent Technologies Inc. has introduced the 86115D optical receiver plug-in module for its 86100C digital communications analyzer (DCA) that allows engineers to simultaneously test multiple optical signals. Testing several single-lane transceivers in parallel can reduce the cost and, as more optically based communications systems rely on a parallel scheme to increase transmission rates, the ability to observe several lanes of data at once becomes important.

The plug-in module can be configured with two or four optical ports, and the 86100C DCA mainframe can accept up to two 86115D plug-in modules, enabling the system to monitor from two to eight optical signals. Each channel is designed for precision waveform analysis of optical transceivers operating at 8-x or 16-x Fibre Channel and 10-Gb SONET/SDH/Ethernet rates.

The unfiltered bandwidth exceeds 20 GHz. Firmware enhancements include faster and more robust autoscaling and utilities for fast laser tuning.
