Fibertronix AB has released its Bright-light pure core optical
fiber line for use in harsh environmental conditions, including oil and gas, aerospace,
sensors, defense, industrial and security. Resistant to hydrogen and radiation exposure,
they operate from -65 to 300 °C. They are available in single- and multimode
and 80-μm configurations. Coatings are polyimide, high-temperature acrylate
and standard acrylate. The single-mode polyimide-coated fiber has a numerical aperture
of 0.12 ±0.015 and a typical core diameter of 9 μm. The multimode version
has a numerical aperture of 0.22 ±0.015 and a core diameter of 50 or 62.5 μm.
Both versions have a cladding diameter of 125 ±1 μm, a core/cladding concentricity
error of <1 μm, cladding noncircularity of <2% and a coating diameter
of 145 ±5 μm.
