IRVINE, Calif., May 14, 2010 — Newport Corp. is launching its Vision IsoStation vibration isolation workstation that offers high performance and has user-friendly features and accessories. Designed to improve ease-of-installation, set up and lab space utilization, the workstation is available with platform sizes from 0.61 × 0.61 m up to 0.91 × 1.83 m to accommodate a wide range of applications.
Two load capacities, 500 lb gross and 1300 lb gross, are delivered by the proprietary I-125 and I-325 series pneumatic isolators. Both versions reduce transmitted vertical and horizontal vibrations by 85% or more after 5 Hz, and by more than 95% after 10 Hz.
Features include integrated casters and a new shipping package that not only reduces packaging materials but also allows users to simply roll the system into their lab, making it plug-and-play. The breadboard is shipped pre-installed on the frame, so customers no longer have to lift the heavy breadboard during installation.
The platform interface acts as a docking surface, an accessory mount and a restraint to keep the breadboard atop the frame, and it is used to couple multiple company accessories or to allow users to connect their own home-built ones. The interface also features float-height indicators and frame-bubble levels to facilitate set up, installation and system relocation. For added safety and convenience, these features combine with integrated leveling feet and casters that are standard on all versions.
Designed for modern scientific and biological investigations, the system includes several new instrumentation and accessory storage options. The Vision Overhead Shelf offers height and location adjustment, optional electrical outlets and hanging shelves. The shelf also features a 200-lb load capacity and front and rear raised edges to protect expensive instrumentation.
The Vision Side Shelves and Worktables are flexible side-storage shelf systems and side worktables that improve space use and organization. The adjustable side shelves are suitable for smaller instruments and accessories including fluidics, probe storage and optics. The side worktables provide ample workspace for sample preparation, component assembly or reference materials that do not require an isolated surface. Both of these new accessories also can be used in conjunction with the overhead shelf to maximize accessory storage and organization.
Accessory Platforms include a new desktop computer shelf, an articulated keyboard shelf, a flat panel monitor mount and joystick shelves to help maximize organization and minimize the overall size of the platform. Users may opt for a 0.76 × 0.91-m platform instead of the previously required 0.91 × 1.22-m workstation.
The company’s ACWS air compressor is suitable for use with the Vision IsoStation. Compact and ultraquiet, it offers users a fast-filling and low-cost air supply without the need for the large capacities delivered by traditional air compressors.
