ENDICOTT, N.Y., June 21, 2010 — Endicott Research Group is offering two new LED driver boards that provide compact, economical solutions to OEM panel designers looking to get the maximum performance out of their displays.
The SFDK devices are high-efficiency, dual-output driver boards with connectors on both sides of the printed circuit board. They provide a plug-and-play solution with a good cost/performance ratio for powering LED-backlit LCDs up to 22 in. in diagonal. They offer flat panel-compatible headers in addition to the standard wire-to-board connections, with the interface between the driver and panel consisting of 0.5-mm flat flex cable with six, eight, 10 or 12 positions, depending upon the display. They have a maximum current of 320 mA and can power up to eight LED strings at a maximum of four on each side.
They are <8 mm high and measure 29.2 × 116.5 mm. They provide brightness stability over a wide input voltage from 10 to 20 V, with 5 V available, and external pulse width modulation dimming to 500:1. They are compatible with a number of OEM LED-backlit panels.
The company’s SFD2E LED driver is a new version of its compact SFDE driver that delivers high power from a compact board. It is suitable for use with the high-power, high-brightness LED backlit units used in LCDs in the 10.4- to 24-in.-diagonal range and can drive up to eight LED strings from one output at a maximum current of 480 mA. They feature input voltage from 8 to 20 V, external pulse width modulation dimming to 500:1 and onboard dimming to 255:1. The SFD2E measures 28.32 × 116.5 mm and has a low profile of <10 mm. It is available with a J12 output connector that is flat flex cable- and flat panel-compatible.
