The E-625 nanopositioning controller from PI (Physik Instrumente) LP was designed for the company’s Pifoc high-speed piezo-actuated Z-stack image acquisition drives. Z-stack acquisition is the basis for the generation of 3-D views of biological samples in high-resolution optical microscopes. The controller provides higher than 1-nm resolution and achieves a response and settling time of 10 ms. It features three sensor types, one- to four-channel combinations, analog and 20-bit high-speed interfaces, a low-noise amplifier, a high-speed servo controller and electronics for absolute-measuring nanopositioning sensors.
