The Matisse TS from Spectra-Physics, a division of Newport Corp., is a tunable CW single-frequency ring laser suitable for such scientific applications as high-resolution spectroscopy, and research into Bose-Einstein condensates, atomic cooling, and optical memory and computing. Comparable to the Matisse TR, the TS also features an external reference cavity that locks the laser’s wavelength and spectral bandwidth within 500 kHz. The device’s tuning range is 700 to 1000 nm, which can be doubled using the company’s WaveTrain CW frequency doubler with an efficiency of >14 percent. It can be configured as either a Ti:sapphire or a dye laser.
