Easily measure ultraviolet spectra of materials, plasmas and processes! Fast and efficient, the Model 234/302 measures EUV and VUV transmission, reflection and emission. The f/4.5 spectrometer has adjustable slits for better throughput and resolution. Resolve closely spaced spectral lines. View 100 to 190 nm simultaneously, near real time, with sensitive, cooled CCDs. Tune the grating anywhere from 30 to 550 nm. Certified spectral calibration, and unit is available with standard sources.

GLOSSARY
plasma
A gas made up of electrons and ions.
reflection
Return of radiation by a surface, without change in wavelength. The reflection may be specular, from a smooth surface; diffuse, from a rough surface or from within the specimen; or mixed, a combination of the two.
resolution
1. In optics, the ability of a lens system to reproduce the points, lines and surfaces in an object as separate entities in the image. 2. The minimum adjustment increment effectively achievable by a positioning mechanism. 3. In image processing, the accuracy with which brightness, spatial parameters and frame rate are divided into discrete levels.
slit
An aperture, usually rectangular in shape, with a large length-to-width ratio, and a fixed or adjustable shape through which radiation enters or leaves an instrument. The aperture is generally small as compared to the light source.
spectral line
A narrow range of emitted or absorbed wavelengths.
spectrometer
A kind of spectrograph in which some form of detector, other than a photographic film, is used to measure the distribution of radiation in a particular wavelength region.
ultraviolet spectrometer
A spectrophotometer designed for use in the 200- to 380-nm range of the electromagnetic spectrum and equipped with a calibrated scale to determine wavelength.
