Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. has developed a 3.3-V multirate SONET/SDH clock and data recovery unit that complies with Bellcore GR-253 specifications for jitter generation, tolerance and transfer. The VSC8122 is a full-featured device for OC-48, -24, -12, -3 and Gigabit Ethernet systems. It uses a selectable input reference clock of 19.44, 38.88, 77.76 or 155.52 MHz and maintains clock output data even in the absence of data.
