The industrial application of CO2 lasers often involves material abrasion, which produces dirt and dust. Beam delivery components are used to seal the optical path in such applications and protect the individual optical components. Offered by Laser Components UK Ltd. are CO2 mirrors with beam-bender kinematics (BBK).

For bending mirrors, BBK bending units offer a robust and distortion-free housing. They are solidly constructed and facilitate repeated adjustments by ±2° using fine thread screws. The units can be cooled internally. The entrance and exit apertures of the housing are equipped with internal screw threads for mounting additional components such as beam tubes.

Mirrors with diameters of 25.4 to 27.9 mm use a BBK unit with a 19-mm aperture; for 38.1 mm, the aperture is 25 mm; and, for 50- to 50.8-mm-diameter mirrors, the aperture is 38 mm. For CO2 lasers, depending upon the laser power, either coated silicon or copper mirrors are used. For applications employing red pilot lasers, the mirrors are equipped with an optimized coating that reflects the CO2 beam by 99.8% and the light of the pilot laser by 70%. These mirrors have a diameter of 25.4 mm and are 3-mm thick.
