Hamamatsu Corp. designed its Model P6448 light modulation photoreflector for close-proximity optical-switching applications. The unit integrates a light modulation photodiode integrated circuit with an infrared LED. It has a typical maximum detecting distance of 35 cm and generates typical low-level output at 0.15 V and high-level output of at least 4.5 V. The P6448 operates effectively with background light of 2000 lux or more. Pulses are typically 8 µs wide with 130-µs duration.
