WESTFIELD, Mass., Nov. 3, 2010 — Sub-millimeter optical mirrors as small as 0.2 mm in diameter are now available from Bern Optics Inc. They can be custom engineered, ground and polished in a variety of standard or custom shapes to micron tolerances.

The microscopic elements, some as small as a grain of salt, can be produced as first or second surface reflectors, with curved or plano surfaces. To meet specific requirements of intended applications, custom designed dielectric, metallic or hybrid coatings can be applied to the mirrors.

They are suitable for a variety of analytical instrumentation, as well as in endoscopic and other minimally invasive surgical devices.
