Konica Minolta Sensing Americas Inc. has partnered with B&W Tek Inc. to introduce a low-cost option for LED characterization. The thermoelectrically cooled miniature mid-range spectral irradiance meter, the SpectraRad, is designed for industrial and laboratory light measurement applications. Equipped with a USB 2.0 interface and a right-angle fiber optically coupled cosine corrector, it is irradiance-calibrated against a NIST-traceable tungsten light source. BWSpec software, included, provides for the characterization and measurement of many lighting devices and systems. The CCD array irradiance meter is suitable for lamp and LED characterization, color analysis, photostability testing, photobiology and photochemistry. It offers a high dynamic range with good long-term stability and is suitable for applications including low-light-level detection and long-term monitoring.
