Designed for use in medical technology, and in industrial and military applications, the LuxxMaster, a fiber-coupled Raman laser that is four times smaller than its previous models, has been released by PD-LD Inc. Available through Laser Components (UK) Ltd., the narrowband device is housed in a 14-pin butterfly package and is suitable for Raman spectroscopy, solid-state laser pumping, fiber laser pumping, flow cytometry and sensor applications. Using proprietary and patented volume Bragg grating technology to stabilize and shape the emission spectrum, the 785-nm laser wavelength is stabilized to within ±0.5-nm accuracy across the entire operating temperature range from 0 to 50 °C.
