SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 14, 2010 — Redfern Integrated Optics Inc. has announced that its Planex and Orion laser module platforms are now available with higher minimum output power, up to 20 mW, without the need for an external optical amplifier. The higher output power adds to the lasers’ specifications in linewidth, phase noise, relative intensity noise and Telcordia reliability.
The lasers operate in the C-band from 1530 to 1565 nm and are narrowly tunable. The higher output power, low noise and ultranarrow linewidth of <3 kHz position these semiconductor optical solutions for multiple applications where absolute accuracy, lifetime reliability over demanding field conditions, and high resolution are vital, such as remote sensing, distributed temperature, strain, acoustic fiber optic monitoring, high-resolution spectroscopy, lidar and other precision metrology applications.
