Nextreme Thermal Solutions Inc. has announced the OptoCooler HV37 module, the next product in its high-voltage line of thin-film thermoelectric coolers designed to address photonics cooling applications with larger heat pumping requirements. It is suited for cooling and temperature control of optoelectronic devices such as semiconductor optical amplifiers, laser diodes, vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers, photodetectors and LEDs. It also enables integration of thermal management capabilities directly into a package. At 85 °C, it can pump 4.5 W or 107 W/cm2 of heat in a footprint measuring 6 x 6 mm. The device is 0.6 mm high. At 85 °C, it can create a temperature differential of up to 60 °C between its hot and cold sides.
