Energetiq Technology Inc.’s EQ-99FC laser-driven light source uses an integrated high-performance ellipsoidal collector to deliver ultrahigh-brightness UV/VIS/NIR light (170 to 2100 nm) to a standard SMA fiber coupling with a numerical aperture of 0.22. This ability to cover such a broad spectrum makes the device a higher-performance alternative to the traditional xenon-arc, halogen, tungsten or deuterium lamps. Its integrated high-efficiency collection optic delivers maximum brightness, while providing greater ease of use. The company says that, electrodeless in operation, the patented technology provides a lamp life of >5000 h, more than 10 times the lifetime of traditional electrode-driven lamps.
