Oclaro Inc. has announced that its 1470-nm laser diodes are being targeted at new high-volume cosmetic skin treatment consumer markets. The single-emitter devices are being used in eye-safe applications in the defense, materials processing and medical markets. They emit 2-W output power at 1470 nm from a 90-μm stripe and are available on a submount, a C-mount or in a 105-μm fiber-coupled configuration. The latter version is built on the company’s platform for single-emitter fiber laser pump modules and for tailored configurations with fast- and slow-axis lenses for beam confinement address-specific applications. The laser diodes were life-tested for more than 5000 h at 10.5 A with no failures.
