B&W Tek Inc. has announced the updated Quest series miniature fiber optic spectrometers that now feature an ultra low thermal drift spectrum and a faster readout speed of >2 MHz. The devices are available with an optional RS-232 communication interface for integration into larger systems. Their fast readout speed makes them suitable for use in high-speed applications such as LED binning and sorting. They employ both a traditional crossed Czerny-Turner spectrograph (Quest X) as well as an unfolded Czerny-Turner spectrograph (Quest U) that minimizes stray light in the UV region. The series is equipped with a 2048-element linear CCD array, a built-in 16-bit digitizer and an externally synchronized trigger. The uncooled Quest X has a plug-and-play USB 2.0 interface.
