The Q82232 optical sensor from Tektronix Inc. is designed to characterize polarization-dependent loss in dense WDM systems and associated wavelength-dependency characteristics in optical devices. The sensor, which has a power range of -94 to +10 dBm, provides wavelengths of 900 to 1650 nm and polarization-dependent loss characteristics of less than or equal to 0.003 dB peak to peak. When it is used with both the company's Q8221 optical power meter and its Q82203 interface plug-in, the sensor can perform one measurement per second with an accuracy of ±0.01 dB.
