FALL RIVER, Mass., July 13, 2011 — A line of compact and highly accurate three-axis positioning sensors for OEM applications including antennas, night vision systems, robotics, satellites, sonar, solar panels and weather instrumentation is available from OceanServer Technology Inc.

They are offered in a 0.6-in.-square embedded and a 1-in.-square full-board version that autodetects USB or RS-232 connections and a transistor-transistor logic interface. Suitable for integration with global positioning systems to provide heading information, they produce 0.5° nominal accuracy, 0.1° resolution, ±180° roll, ±90° tilt and electronically gimbaled tilt compensation.

The compasses incorporate three-axis magnetic sensors with three-axis accelerometers and feature hard- and soft-iron calibration, a processor with 50 million instructions per second that supports IEEE floating point math, a 24-bit analog-to-digital converter, programmable baud rates from 4800 to 115,000 and Windows-compatible software for evaluation and testing.
