White PIN OLEDs
Novaled AGRequest Info
Novaled AG has developed power-efficient white organic LEDs (OLEDs) that achieve 60 lm/W at a brightness of 1000 cd/m2. They offer a lifetime of 100,000 h and use commercially available fluorescent blue-emitting material. Power efficiency with such materials is usually less than with phosphorescent emitters, but because of the proprietary PIN OLED technology and materials, the OLEDs are highly power-efficient.
The devices demonstrate a color rendering index of 87 and deliver a broad light emission spectrum and good CIE color coordinates (0.470/0.429), close to illuminant A and inside the US Department of Energy quadrangles for meeting its Energy Star color specifications.
The use of the fluorescent blue emitter material yields high stability and enables broad coverage of the complete visible color range.
The OLEDs incorporate proprietary light extraction technology and dedicated material NET 61, enhancing efficiency and improving the angular dependence of emitted light. By meeting the standards for commercial lighting applications, the devices are suitable for use in OLED lamps and luminaires for general and design lighting.
The company uses standard manufacturing processes to produce the white PIN OLEDs. Standard glass substrates with indium tin oxide, ordinary evaporation processes and simple outcoupling methods allow for easy adoption to existing manufacturing lines and for cost-efficient volume production of such devices.
