Leica Microsystems has introduced the Leica TCS SP5 II, a high-sensitivity, superresolution growth confocal imaging system. A complete system that can be installed in a variety of configurations, it provides optimal excitation of fluorophores with multiple lasers to extend fluorophore lifetime and living cell viability. The growth confocal configuration starts at six wavelengths. Multiple fluorescent channels can be acquired simultaneously with the proprietary spectral detection system. Growth confocal starts at three detectors. The system offers photon counting with optional hybrid detectors for quantitative imaging. It can be upgraded by adding optional packages, including deep tissue imaging with multiphoton technology, cellular dynamics with a high-speed resonant scanner, and superresolution with stimulated emission depletion.
