BIRKERØD, Denmark, Oct. 19, 2011 — NKT Photonics A/S has launched a range of high-power BoostiK single-mode and single-frequency fiber lasers that offer up to 15-W output with low phase noise and an ultranarrow linewidth for applications in atomic physics, sensing, metrology, and light detection and ranging.
The lasers are completely fiber monolithic and maintenance-free, are supplied in an industrially rugged air-cooled package and are ready to handle 24/7 operation in both laboratory and industrial environments.
They are available with the company’s Koheras Care warranty and service packages that give customers a two-year warranty extension, remote diagnostics of key parameters over the Internet, and the possibility of having a customer-specific laser in stock and ready to ship within hours.
The lasers provide up to 10 W at 1.55 µm and 15 W at 1.06 µm, produce low phase and intensity noise, and are burst noise- and mode-hop-free. Many wavelengths are available, and fast tuning enables external stabilization.
Applications include quantum optics/computing and phenomena (optical trapping, optical lattice, Bose-Einstein condensates, atom interferometers, squeezing); nonlinear optics pumping (second-harmonic generation, parametric processes); laser-based metrology (precision laser interferometry, spectroscopy); optical heterodyning and coherent communication; coherent beam combining; and optical length and frequency standards.
The distributed feedback fiber lasers are supplied in a compact turnkey stand-alone package in a 19-in. rack system that includes the control electronics and power supply. They are suitable for laboratory work and experimental research, and are available with kilohertz frequency modulation and a digital control interface.
