WATERLOO, Ontario, Canada, Oct. 28, 2011 — Teledyne Dalsa Inc., a Teledyne Technologies company, has unveiled the Piranha4 8-k/7-μm-resolution dual line-scan CMOS camera line. The P4-8k, the first in the series, combines advancements in the company’s CMOS imaging sensor technology with a good signal-to-noise ratio for high-speed imaging.

With a 70-kHz maximum line rate using the Camera Link interface, it inspects and detects with high precision and good responsivity.

The Piranha4 family is based on proprietary CMOS dual line-scan technology with on-chip correlated double sampling and on-chip analog-to-digital conversion. It offers low read noise and high full well capacity for a better dynamic range for demanding applications. Other key features include a 100% fill factor, exposure control, 100× antiblooming and precise sensor alignment, which simplifies multiple camera calibration at the system level. The GenICam-compliant interface makes the camera easier to set up, control and integrate.

Users can save up to four sets of flat-field correction coefficients, adjust gain and offset, and test pattern and diagnostics. The camera is suitable for flat panel display, printed circuit board, solar cell, film and large-format web inspection. Other applications include parcel sorting and document scanning.

The Piranha4 line-scan family includes 1-, 2-, 4- and 8-k-resolution models with various pixel sizes.
