Pacer Components plc has introduced a photon-counting module that detects single photons in the 400- to 1060-nm wavelength range. The SPCM-AQR series has photon efficiencies of 70% at 630 nm, and maximum count rates are typically 14 million per second with an arrival-time accuracy of 300 ps. A transistor-transistor logic pulse is put out each time a photon is detected. The module uses a Slik APD chip and is suitable for lidar, particle sizing, adaptive optics and confocal microscopy.
