MUNICH, July 19, 2012 — To locate and remove data bottlenecks in machine vision systems that use the new USB 3.0 SuperSpeed standard, Ximea GmbH offers xiCOP USB 3.0 diagnostic software with the xiQ series ultracompact USB 3.0 industrial cameras.

The software makes it easier for automation professionals and machine vision integrators to design quality-control systems using the latest USB 3.0-compatible machine vision hardware. It helps designers simplify connections and optimize USB 3.0 implementations, including hubs, controllers and the company’s cameras; firmware updates; and the latest USB 3.0-compliant application programming interfaces for more than 30 of the most common image processing libraries.

Most machine vision system designers who purchase USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 cameras have to search the vendor’s knowledge base to discover what hubs, cables and controllers work best with a given camera. Ximea simplifies the process by packaging the knowledge base into the xiCOP interactive optimization and diagnostic software program, saving integrators time.

The software can be downloaded at: www.ximea.com/en/view-survey/last/5-xicopbetadownload.

The company’s xiQ industrial USB 3.0 cameras for industrial imaging and machine vision deliver up to 5 Gb/s of data and enable image transfer at up to 400 megapixels per second. They measure 26.4 × 26.4 × 19.1 mm and weigh 26 g. They include standard input/output features, high-grade CMOS sensors with resolutions ranging from VGA to 4 megapixel, global shutter and frame rates up to 600 fps. A high-dynamic-range model offers maximum sensitivity up to 100 dB.
