MAINZ, Germany, Nov. 20, 2012 — Dilas has announced its next-generation fiber-coupled diode laser system developed for volume production in industrial applications. The Dilas SF1000/400 delivers up to 1-kW output from a 400-μm fiber at 976 nm.

The system is based on macrochannel cooled diode laser bars featuring a compact footprint and convenient aiming beam. With a beam parameter of 44-mm mrad, it delivers 1 kW through a cladding-mode-free QBH high-power 400-µm-core-diameter fiber, with a numerical aperture of 0.22, or an optional 800-µm-core-diameter fiber with a numerical aperture of 0.12. The laser is also available with a Q5 (LLK-B) industrial fiber connector.

The turnkey system comes with a water-air chiller, a diode laser power supply and a control unit providing external interfaces, chassis and metal-armored fiber. The system is designed with a user-friendly interface for ease of integration into materials processing workstations.

Applications include soldering, heat treatment, thin-metal welding and fiber laser pumping.
