DUNEDIN, Fla., Nov. 20, 2012 — The ecoVis, a compact, low-voltage light source from Ocean Optics, has a built-in cuvette holder for basic measurements in teaching labs and other research environments. Its rugged solid alloy housing helps dissipate heat and in-line fiber ports for absorbance and fluorescence measurements of cuvette-based samples. Response is from 400 to 2500 nm.

It measures 95 × 50 mm and weighs 265 g, making it attractive for labs where space is at a premium. The cuvette holder has a 1-cm path length and a chromium-plated reflective insert that increases the output for fluorescence, holds the cuvette securely in place and can be adjusted through 90º to block the light path for dark measurements.
