VERONA, N.J., Dec. 10, 2012 — Because feedback can disrupt applications of quantum cascade lasers and, in some cases, damage the laser, Innovation Photonics has developed the only device that stops the feedback: isolators for 4- to 5-μm and 8-μm wavelengths that feature transmittance of ≤90% and isolation of ≤30 dB..

The laser beam passes through the isolator and from there outward into the application. There, reflections of the laser beam return backward toward the laser. However, the isolator stops the feedback, thus protecting the laser from its effects.
