NORTH LOGAN, Utah, Feb. 4, 2013 — Ophir Photonics Group, a Newport Corp. brand, has announced StarLite, a laser power/energy meter that provides both digital and analog screen displays. The handheld unit displays a variety of beam measurements, including power, single-shot energy, beam size, and energy and frequency of high-repetition-rate lasers. A 320 × 240-pixel display with 16-mm digits increases legibility, and the meter monitors power from picowatts to many kilowatts, and energy from picojoules to hundreds of joules.
It monitors power and energy for all Ophir thermopile, pyroelectric and photodiode sensors, monitors laser beam size and tracks beam position to fractions of a millimeter when used with the company’s BeamTrack series thermal detectors, which combine multiple functions in one device: power, energy, beam position and beam size.
The user interface allows selection of a digital power screen or an analog needle display. The digital screen can average measurements over selected periods, which is useful for unstable lasers. The analog needle display adjusts and maximizes laser power or energy.
The design features rubberized bumpers and an optimum angle kickstand. The meter can be operated from a rechargeable battery or connected to an AC source. The brightly lit display allows illumination of the power meter in low-light conditions. The “Smart Connector” interface automatically configures and calibrates the display when plugged into one of the company’s measurement sensors.
