MONTREAL, Feb. 21, 2013 — Nüvü Caméras has launched the HNü high-sensitivity thermoelectric electron-multiplying CCD (EMCCD) cameras, which provide a high signal-to-noise ratio for applications requiring photon counting, fast acquisition, high-quality optics for detection efficiency, simple integration with intuitive and reliable software, and a compact size.

The cameras are used in biomedical diagnostics.

Three models are available: the HNü 128 is optimized for fast frame rates; the HNü 512 is balanced for optimal frame rates and field of view with minimal noise; and the HNü 1024 is optimized for a large field of view.

Background noise is below 0.001 electrons/pixel/s, allowing an electron-multiplying gain of up to 5000, and the charge transfer efficiency of more than 0.999993 results in high image quality. Acquisition rate is up to 20 MHz. Thermal noise is minimized with the thermoelectric cooling system down to −90 °C using liquid cooling or −85 °C using air cooling.
