ITASCA, Ill., April 22, 2013 — Keyence Corp. has introduced the PR-G series self-contained metal photoeye, a general-purpose sensor for industrial automation environments.

The sensor’s heavy-duty body was designed to resist oils, acids and alkaline detergents, while maintaining IP68 and IP69K enclosure ratings to negate the effects of harsh environments.

To maintain stable detection in industrial environments, the photoeye’s light source provides increased gain, enabling it to sense through dirt, oil and other forms of buildup; its maximum through-beam detection distance is 30 m.

A light indicator allows the output status to be determined from a distance; sensitivity can be adjusted with a built-in trimmer. The diffuse reflective and retroreflective models contain a seven-segment digital display for calibration based on numeric values.
